Why does this feature exist?

Opening a restaurant means many trips to the authorities and many deadlines to keep track of: business registration, restaurant licence or notification, registering the till with the tax office, briefings, insurance. What applies in your federal state is often hard to find. Lumigast turns this into a list with deadlines and reminders.

What does it do for you?

  • Around 50 items in four phases, matched to your opening date and federal state
  • Restaurant licensing law for all 16 German federal states, with sources (as of October 2026)
  • Every item in plain language: the responsible office, a link and a note on costs
  • A light for each item and reminders 14 and 3 days before a deadline
  • The whole list as a PDF – to tick off or for your advisers

How it works

  1. Enter your opening date and federal state, and answer a few yes/no questions.

  2. Work through the list with deadlines – with space for your documents for each item.

  3. When you open, switch to the set-up wizard.

Who is it for?

For founders, takeovers and new locations. The list does not replace advice from the trade office, the chamber of commerce (IHK) or your tax adviser.
